Lado, who being held on $5,000 bond in the Lee County Jail told investigators that he was tired of the dog always taking his girlfriend’s ‘side in arguments’ and subsequently stabbed the 2-year-old mix to death after it followed him into the kitchen barking and growling.

While Blue’s owner admits that the dog followed Lado into the kitchen following the argument, she insists that the animal did not approach her boyfriend aggressively before he snapped and stabbed it twice with a large butcher knife.

Blue, a boxer-Labrador mix, was sitting next to his owner, Lado’s girlfriend, during the argument. Blue’s owner told detectives about five minutes after the argument ended, Blue slipped out of his collar and followed Lado into the kitchen.

Blue did not approach Lado aggressively, according to the dog’s owner. She told detectives the nearly 2-year-old dog was barking and growling at Lado, who then reached for a large butcher knife and stabbed the dog twice.

While inspecting the home, detectives say there was a pool of blood in the kitchen where the stabbing occurred.

Throughout the home there were heartbreaking clues which shed light on the last moments of Blue’s life. A trail of blood was found down the hallway leading to the back of the residence.

Giving a sickening glimpse into the Blue’s terrifying last moments, detectives wrote in Lado’s arrest report that blood covering the doors at the end of the hallway appear to show that Blue was not aggressively pursuing the suspect, but instead attempting to retreat to safety.

Sadly, Blue was unable to get far before succumbing to his wounds. He was found dead in the hallway against a door he was taking to escape through.

Blue’s owner gave Fox 47 the following statement on the matter:

“Blue was an amazing and loyal dog who never left my side. He was my best friend and will be forever missed.”
