Senator: “Our last opportunity” to repeal ObamaCare

Politico reports that a Senate vote on the BLOCK GRANT repeal of ObamaCare will happen next week. Republicans are looking for 50 votes to finally take some meaningful action against the government takeover of health care. But, with four GOP Senators wavering in their support, Politico says getting enough votes isn’t likely:

“Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) are viewed as hard ‘no’s.’ And Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who opposed a previous iteration of repeal in July, are not sold on the proposal.”

The online article also quotes Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas, who said: “This is our last opportunity” for the Senate to repeal key elements of ObamaCare. That’s why grassroots Americans must make their voices heard NOW. The window to end the unconstitutional mandates and return power to We the People is closing! True patriots, like you, MUST act to repeal ObamaCare.

In a potentially stunning turn of events, it now appears that a new ObamaCare Repeal/Replace bill using BLOCK GRANTS to the states is now ONE VOTE away from passage in the Senate.

Grassfire has been tracking this development closely, and while the BLOCK GRANT strategy is far from perfect, it does accomplish several key objectives that move Americans away from the crippling ObamaCare monstrosity:

    –The employee mandate is ELIMINATED.

    –The employer mandate is ELIMINATED.

–Federal funds are given to the states on a PER CAPITA basis instead of ObamaCare’s grossly skewed distribution scheme that funneled the vast majority of funds to hard-left states.

–States are given ample freedom to create the health-insurance programs that fit the needs of their state. Far-left states may skew toward socialized medicine while conservative states can move toward a market-based system. (But those battles will take place in state legislatures where conservatives are winning hands down!)

Again, this is FAR FROM PERFECT, but this BLOCK GRANT strategy moves the health-care debate and legislation away from unconstitutional mandates, federal control and single-payer, and back to the states and the people.

Congress must pass this Block Grant Repeal/Replace strategy by September 30, or there is no hope of an ObamaCare repeal in the foreseeable future.

Grassfire is asking every team member to sign the “I SUPPORT THE BLOCK GRANT OBAMACARE REPEAL” petition, so we can rush tens of thousands of petitions to Congress before the end of the month. Go here now to add your name.

The BLOCK GRANT ObamaCare Repeal Petition states:

As a concerned citizen, I support the BLOCK GRANT ObamaCare repeal/replace legislation that eliminates the employee and employer mandates and gives states power and freedom to create health insurance programs that meet their state’s needs. I’m calling on Congress to pass the BLOCK GRANT legislation as a first, vital step to a full repeal of ObamaCare and a return to market-based health-care solutions.
