Walmart Forced to Apologize Following Backlash over the Worst Placement of ‘Back-to-School’ Sign Thinkable
The retail-giant Walmart is experiencing a public relations nightmare following the inappropriate placement of a back-to-school marketing sign being awkwardly placed over a glass gun case went viral on social media.
Reading the message “Own the school year like a hero,” the sign intended to be placed over school supplies was instead placed by ‘mistake’ over the firearms display, sparking harsh criticism in a society shell shocked by tragic school shootings.

Walmart subsequently responded to @thisbemesara:
This is definitely not okay, Sara. We’re very sorry and checking into how this could have happened. -Valerie

As reported by CNN Money, Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson stated they are “not happy” about the signs placement and that they “‘working diligently’ to find out where the photo was taken and ensure the sign has been removed.”
Naturally, the reaction on social media has been mixed:
A random customer picked up a sign and propped it on a gun case for giggles. That's almost certainly how it happened.

Well the guns didn't put that sign over themselves, surely. #guncontrol

Oh come on, this is no mistake. Don't act all innocent, you're totally complicit. Someone just had the guts to actually call it out.
